Live Oak Unitarian Universalist Church, Cedar Park, Texas

Master plan and schematic design for a highly sustainable new campus on nearly 20 acres. The goal was to accommodate three buildings (Sanctuary, Fellowship Hall and Education) and parking in a compact footprint, leaving as much of the site as possible in its natural state.

• Siting of buildings for energy efficiency and natural ventilation
• Multiple sun-protected and open air outdoor gathering spaces, including outdoor worship areas
• Preservation of existing woods and use for nature trails
• Straw bale walls with natural plaster
• Rainwater harvesting for landscape irrigation
• Low impact stormwater strategy utilizing pervious pavement, bioswales and earthen berms
• Shared parking and utility access to minimize site disruption
