Austin Waldorf School, Austin, Texas

Sustainable design consulting to create a master plan for a high school expansion at an existing elementary school on an eleven acre campus. The goal was to preserve the human scale and intimate feel of the existing campus and to protect as much of the natural environment as possible. Sustainable site analysis included examination of:

• Sun and shade
• Outdoor room potential
• Geological features and slopes
• Pond improvements and potential educational applications
• Wind patterns
• Views — close, intermediate and distant
• Tree and vegetation value
• Footpaths — human and wildlife
• Scents — positive and negative
• Sounds — positive and negative
